Emil Matula
1st Sergeant, US Army
Served 1937-1945. Matula fought at Luzon, Philippines for 165 straight days and nights. His story recounts that he killed the last Japanese soldier during that battle and ended up getting hit by a sniper’s bullet making him the 196th and the last American soldier to get wounded there.
